Bilingual Program

The Bilingual and English as a Second Language (ESL) program provides opportunities for students, families and schools to work together to ensure that children succeed both academically and socially regardless of the language they speak.

 

Program Descriptions:

Spanish Transitional Bilingual Education (TBE) - Instruction in content areas uses student's native language. English is taught using English as a Second Language (ESL) methods. The goal of this transitional bilingual education model is to develop academic skills in the student's native language and English while the student attains English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing throughout the content areas.

Educación Bilingue de Transición (TBE) - La enseñanza de contenido utiliza el idioma natal del alumno. El ingles se enseña con el método de Inglés como Segundo Idioma (ESL). La meta de este TBE modelo de es desarrollar habilidades académicas en el idioma natal del estudiante y en inglés mientras éste logra entender, hablar, leer, y escribir las areas de contenido.

 

Sheltered Transitional Program of Instruction (TPI) - Instruction in content areas uses English and the student's native language whenever possible when the teachers, aides, or volunteers who speak the student's native language are available. English is taught using ESL methods through a pull-out program or push-in program or in a self-contained setting. Students from different language groups may participate together in the same ESL class according to their age and English language level. The goal of the TPI model is to develop academic skills in English while the student attains English proficiency in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Programa de Instrucción de Transición (TPI) - La enseñanza de contenido utiliza el inglés y el idioma natal del estudiante en la medida de lo posible cuando se dispone de maestros, ayudantes, o voluntaries que hablan ese idioma. El inglés se enseña con el método ESL en grupos dentro o fuera del salon, o en un ambiente que incluya a todos. Los estudiantes de diferentes grupos idiomáticos pueden estar junton en la misma clase de ESL segun la edad y nivel de dominio de inglés.
