About Mrs. Westmoreland
Early Life
I grew up on the West side of Chicago in Henry Horner Homes, a Chicago Housing Authority public housing project located near the United Center. I attended Alice M. Birney and Henry Suder Elementary Schools and Richard T. Crane High School. Crane High School is where I fell in love with Career and Technical Education. My teacher, Ms. Rosetta Jones, invited me to be a part of the Office Occupations pathway and motivated me to become the lifelong learner, educator, and motivator that I am today. Who knew that I would flourish so well in this field?
Not only am I an amazing Instructor, I am a licensed Realtor. I am the wife of a Chicago Firefighter and mother of two children. I love cooking and trying new recipes, I make amazing Macaroni and Cheese! Or so I’m told. I love to travel during my time off and most importantly, I am grateful for my blessings and all of my life’s lessons
Education
I studied Business Education in college and later started teaching in September of 2000. My career at Curie Metropolitan High School started in September 2004. My journey has been filled with happy, sad, good, bad, believable, unbelievable, and outright amazing experiences. I am blessed to have worked in my chosen profession and field of study for over two decades with some of the most talented educators and intelligent students I have ever seen. I look forward to many more years and making a contribution to the success of each student who enters Curie High School and the CTE Pathways
